The Beatitudes: Turning the World Upside Down

Jesus's Sermon on the Mount in St. Matthew's gospel presents a radically different way of looking at and engaging the world. The beginning of the sermon, the Beatitudes, (Matthew 5:1-12), describe Jesus's vision. Far more than moral exhortation or aspiration, the Beatitudes are an invitation to see the world through Christ's eyes.
